About Me

Cristina Runkles
My name is Cristina Runkles and I am an EdTech enthusiast and leader from Maryland helping others to question, research, learn, collaborate, and create using technology integrated skills that are required to thrive in the world today. I received a Master's degree in Instructional Technology at Johns Hopkins University. For the past six years, I have worked in Frederick County, Maryland as a Teacher Specialist for Instructional Technology providing professional development and mentoring for nine schools across K – 12 for students, teachers, assistants, administrators, specialists, and Central Office personnel. Before this position I taught at various elementary grade levels for nine years in Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS).

Currently, I am on sabbatical this year pursuing a graduate certificate through Johns Hopkins University in School Administration and Supervision in Partnership with the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). As part of my sabbatical I am doing an additional internship through FCPS to help schools with professional development, co-teaching, and mentoring regarding Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and instructional technology integration.  It is exciting to be participating in the School Admin Virtual Mentor Program #SAVMP this year as well with others around the world.  I am very passionate about digital citizenship and hope to be able to work with others this year to spread information to parents, teachers, and students.

On a personal note, I love to explore the world with my husband, Brian. You will no doubt read of a few of these adventures on this site.  I also enjoy cooking and baking, photographing interesting places and people, staying active, researching, and all things EdTech of course!

Follow my journey as I continue to learn more about Instructional Technology and leadership.  learnIT.LEADit.
